Betta Fish Breeding Tank Size, How Big Should? : basically there is no benchmark for how much the maximum or minimum tank to breed betta fish.
However, choosing the wrong tank can lead to the failure of breeding betta fish.
Then, what is the ideal betta fish breeding tank size?
Breeding betta fish does not have to use a tank, I personally prefer to use a bucket.
Why?
Because the water temperature is more stable when using a bucket. In addition, by using a bucket, we only cover the top.
Unlike the case with tanks, the water temperature tends to turn very cold which results in male betta fish not making bubble nests, not wanting to mate and even betta fish eggs don't hatch.
For this reason, it is very important when we use a tank, we recommend adding a temperature control device and so that the betta fish are not disturbed during mating, we must also cover all sides of the tank and its top.
In addition, if you want to use a tank to breed betta fish, you must have a plan in advance where to take care of the fry later.
If you want to take care of betta fish fry in a larger container, then the spawning tank is enough with a length of 25 cm, a height of 15 cm and a width of 15 cm.
That's the size of the tank I usually use to breed betta fish.
That size is ideal, because male betta fish will not get tired of chasing female betta fish.
If you use a smaller tank than I suggested, you should have a small betta fish scoop.
Because in many cases when we take female betta fish after mating, it can cause the bubble nest to be bumped which eventually makes the eggs scatter.
If you plan not to move your betta fry after 4 days of age or you could say you want to take care of the fry in a spawning container, then the required tank must be larger.
Even though they are large, what you need to remember is that you cannot care for betta fish fry for more than one month in a spawning container.
Because their growth will be slow if not moved, that means breeding this betta fish requires 2 tanks.
Namely the spawning tank which is also to care for the fry until the age of 1 month and the care tank for the betta fish fry that are more than 1 month old.
What if you immediately use a large tank, won't there be no need to move even if the fry are more than 1 month old?
Right
However, in many cases when we breed betta fish in large or spacious containers, the betta fish do not mate, because the males are tired of chasing the female betta fish.
Unless the betta fish pair is really lust.
