STORYLINE:
The body of murdered Colombian Senator Martha Catalina Daniels was viewed by family and friends on Monday at a memorial ceremony in Bogota.
Sen. Martha Catalina Daniels was trying to negotiate the release of rebel hostages on Friday when police said she was murdered, along with two companions, by rebels.
At the ceremony on Monday, opposition leaders accused the Colombian President, Andres Pastrana, for being responsible for the country's violence.
Her slaying comes amid a wave of violence that began when President Andres Pastrana broke off peace talks with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - the FARC - and ordered a military offensive against the rebels.
Pastrana was retaliating for the hijacking of an airliner and the kidnapping of a senator on Feb. 20.
Since then, the rebels have launched attacks on infrastructure that have left much of the country without electricity and parts without water or telephone services.
