Johann Christoph Kellner was a German composer and organist. His father was Johann Peter Kellner, a friend of Johann Sebastian Bach. Johann Christoph probably received lessons from his father. His works are typical examples of the style galante, the period between baroque and classical.
This Nachspiel in D-Dur is part of the collection "Drey Vor - oder vielmehr Nachspiele...". Quite the name for a collection, he obviously had a sense of humor. It is quite simple in structure: ABA. The melody in the right hand is most important, the rest (left hand and pedals) is mainly accompaniment. However simple, his pieces do need some vivid and transparent playing. The chosen sample set of the organ in Noordwolde helps with that, with its wonderful flutes.
