After a yearlong drafting, on Sunday September 4th, voters rejected the proposed progressive constitution. This new draft was due to replace the constitution adopted under Augusto Pinochet dictatorship. Almost 62% rejected the document, compared to the 38% who approved it. President Gabriel Boric, who supported the new constitution, pledged to draft another text.
