February 15, 2022, marks the 80th anniversary of ’The Fall of Singapore’, a defeat that many historians consider the worst military defeat in the history of the British Empire.
In this 5-part series I recap the events and aftermath of those fateful three months of the Second World War.
Part 5 looks at some of the causes of what was for many a shocking defeat, and why it should not have come as such a surprise.
