Continuing our walk around DZ/LZ ' N' and the Breville ridge -
After their battle at the Merville Battery and subsequent taking of the village of Le Plein, the 9th Parachute Battalion were tasked with holding the Château St Come and the surrounding area of the Bois De Monts Woods from counter-attack by the Germans. The Château St Come was located on the Breville ridge, which itself overlooks DZ/LZ 'N' and the bridges over the Orne River and Caen Canal and was critical to the defence of the allied left flank of the Normandy landings.
