While at Florida State Kai was an active member of the Seminole community as a Service Scholar, 2011 Best New Senator of the Year in the Student Government Association and the 2012 Florida State University Sean Pittman Leadership Award recipient. In 2014 Kai graduated with a BS in Management Information Systems and Entrepreneurship. Kai currently lives in the heart of Detroit, MI and is working to continue her mission of supporting LGBTQ youth in their development both emotionally, finacially and spiritually. Kai Evelyn Smith Daniels is an example of how black millennials are changing the face and culture of the venture capital community. As an Investment Analyst at GM Ventures, Kai supports multi-million-dollar technology investments, where she works with advanced technical startup companies to bring new functionality and innovations into the vehicles or supply chain of General Motors. But technology isn’t the only thing Kai is passionate about, she is also an LGBTQ advocate in both the workplace, through her employee resource group GMPLUS, and in the community working with LGBTQ youth.
