After getting tired of pulling of trim, hammering a plank back into place, and then putting the trim back on with a nail gun, I found a much simpler way to fix this gap.

I used regular wood glue because my vinyl plank has a cork backing (you can use something that works better for vinyl like gorilla glue construction adhesive), and a tapped the plank with my shoe to close the gap. You might also find a toothpick helpful to get the glue down into the gap, and a wet rag to clean up the glue residue when you are all done.
