The Citroën Ami is a 100% electric ultra-compact, agile new urban vehicle with character to spare. It’s poised to take on today’s mobility challenges, and Citroën turned to 3DEXCITE to develop an all-new, mobile-friendly WebGL experience, to help reach their young target audience.
Only available through an e-commerce website and a few selected dealers & Fnac and Darty stores revealing Ami in its pop up. This also marks a first for PSA in selling a vehicle outside of a layer-based website using a real-time 3D model complete with exterior and interior renderings. Using a real-time 3D model, complete with fully rendered exterior and interior perspectives, this new collaboration between PSA and 3DEXCITE proved to be an especially innovative one. The 3D vehicle model needed to be as lightweight as possible, to avoid overly heavy loads that would drain consumer’s cellular data plans, while still maintaining high visual quality and ample interactivity, with smooth frame rates on low-end smartphones.
In short – this new approach for Citroën set a new benchmark for modern vehicle configurators. In today’s retail landscape, it’s clear that a customizable, virtual marketing approach is going to enable increased sales and brand awareness, while also providing business continuity for automotive manufacturers for the years to come.
