Row 1: K2, p2, (k9, p4)x 2, k9, p2, k2 Right side
Row 2: * K4, p9 rep * ending k4.
Note all wrong side rows are as row 2.
This means rows 4, 6 & 8 are the same as row 2.
Row 3: K2, p2, (cf6, k3, p4) x 2, cf6, k3, p2, k2
Row 5: As row 1.
Row 7: K2, p2, (k3, cb6, p4) x 2, k3, cb6, p2, k2
Row 8: As row 2 and the last row of the repeat.
Repeat rows 1 to 8 until your scarf is the desired length.
The plaited Cable Stitch is no where near as complicated as it looks. The repeat on this cable is worked over 13 stitches and 8 rows in a chunky yarn using 10mm needles.
For a panel with only one central cable:
Cast on17sts.
Row 1: K2, p2, k9, p2, k2
Row 2: K4, p9, k4.
Note rows 4, 6 and 8 are the same as row 2.
Row 3: K2, p2, cf6, k3, p2, k2
Row 5: As row 1
Row 7: K2, p2, k3, cb6, p2, k2
Row 8 is the last row = as row 2.
