Sati Pratha was one of the worst rituals of the Hindus Community. Sati or Suttee was a historical practice by Hindus where a Widow used to sacrifice her life on her husband's pyre (after her husband's death). In the starting phases it was a will of the Widows to go Sati or not but later on it became more popular in many communities and societies then started to be forced to go Sati.
At that time there is no restrictions of child marriage and multiple marriages. Many old men used to marry younger women/girls and later on husbands dies earlier then small girls or women should fulfil rituals (Sati Pratha).
Many sources says that in middle aged of Malla periods (from 15th century to 18th century) 1000s of womens were bur*ed alive per year as sati.
But a Here Prime Minister of Nepal Chandra Shamsher abolished the sati pratha in BS 1977 Ashar 25.
