Dia das Crianças is a highly celebrated holiday in Brazil. We don’t have this holiday in the United States. The kids get the day off from school and get to spend the day having fun. This day is actually a catholic holiday for Our Lady of Aparecida a title of the Virgin Mary. I’m not sure how Dia Das Crianças is associated with her but it is definitely a commercialized holiday. The Brazilians through huge parties with live bands, face painting, food with lots of candy and cotton candy. I even saw circus performers and dancers. We think it is great that the kids have their own day and we had fun celebrating it. Video 90
