Georgia Institute of Technology scientists conducted tests that determined the pupils size of a person’s eyes is related to their intelligence. The discovery of the relations was put forward by studying the effort used to complete memory activities. Pupils dilation was the indication of effort, and the discovery showed that baseline pupil size and intelligence were related.
Correlation with a person’s intelligence is related to the activity in the Locus Coeruleus. It releases norepinephrine, that functions as a neurotransmitter and hormone in the brain and body. It helps maintain a healthy organization of brain activity. People with larger pupils at rest have a greater regulation of activity by the locus coeruleus, they will have better cognitive performance and resting-state brain function.
Pupils size and dilation can also indicate when someone likes you. Just like a lens from a camera the aperture acts like the pupil and opens up to take all of you in. When the lens open up, only you will be in focus and everything else becomes out of focus.
There is also another correlation with brain activity and enlargement of the pupil. When you tell a lie your pupils dilate, the mind goes into an overdrive to come up with the best lie you can think of.
