In visit to the flood-ravaged Leh town of Ladakh on Tuesday (September 14), the Dalai Lama urged the victims not to lose hope and rebuild their lives. The Tibetan spiritual leader toured the devasted terrain and expressed his grief and offered prayer.

Under a fine Colorado summer sky, high up in the mountains between Minturn and Leadville, U.S Forest Service unveiled a plaque on Sept 10th officially commemorating that area now known as Camp Hale as the historic training ground of US Central Intelligence Agency's secret military training given to about 260 Tibetan freedom fighter during China's invasion of Tibet. The event presided over by US Senator Mark Udall was attended by former CIA agents and Tibetans involved in the operation as well as elected members and representatives of U.S. Forest Service. 3. World News in Brief:
a. Japan - China Ship Row.
A Chinese fishing boat collided with the Japanese coastguard on September 7, resulting in the crew and captain being detained by Japan, thus reigniting the dispute over a chain of islands in East China Sea, claimed by China, Japan and China.
b. Israel - Palestinian Peace Talks.
U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas have begun a "serious discussion on core issue" in peace talks. U.S. officials say the common goal remains "two states for two people" living in peace and security.
