The 1995 Stock, a type of rolling stock utilized on the Northern line of the London Underground, consists of a total of 106 six-car trains. These trains were introduced into service between June 1998 and April 2001, effectively replacing the older 1959 Stock, 1962 Stock, and 1972 Stock. Notably, they bear a strong resemblance to the 1996 Stock deployed on the Jubilee line.

In the early 1990s, as part of a comprehensive effort to refurbish the Northern line, a significant task involved replacing the aging 1959 Stock, 1962 Stock, and 1972 Stock trains that were in use at the time.

In April 1995, London Underground and GEC Alsthom (later known as Alstom) entered into a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) agreement valued at £400 million to supply 106 six-car trains. In a departure from prior rolling stock contracts for the Underground, GEC Alsthom was responsible for the design, construction, financing, and maintenance of these new trains for a minimum of 20 years, with the option to extend it to 36 years. The compensation to Alstom was contingent on the availability and reliability of the trains.

The trains were manufactured in Washwood Heath, Birmingham, while their bodyshells were produced in Spain and imported. The construction process commenced in 1996, with one car displayed publicly during the Lord Mayor's Show on November 9, 1996. The first train was delivered to Ruislip depot on December 20, 1996, and testing began in early 1997. Passenger service commenced with the first train on June 12, 1998, and the final train was introduced into service on April 10, 2001.
