Officer Tony Thompson has been with TDCJ at the Ramsey Unit in Rosharon for 17 years.
He currently oversees a team of inmates who help keep the unit grounds maintained and loves to push them to be the best version of themselves they can be.
He also wants to instill those same values in his five children, "What I tell them is that you have to do your part. You can't whine and complain and gripe about something when you haven't done your part. You must speak up because nobody is going to speak for you, so they can know that 'Hey, I have a voice'".
For his service and dedication to the state of Texas, Officer Thompson was recently recognized by the Texas Board of Criminal Justice and Chairman Eric Nichols.
