Hey guys, my name is Masud and in today’s video I’ll be explaining what respiratory physios do and what respiratory physiotherapy is all about.

You’ll mainly be working with people who have had problems with their breathing and have shortness of breath or a difficulty breathing.

They may have aastma, had a traumatic injury where they’ve punctured their lungs, have a long standing chronic condition like COPD, emphysema, Cystic Fibrosis, etc.

Treatments you’ll be doing as a physiotherapist:

- Positioning
- Active cycle of breathing (ACBT)
- Mobilisation (walking with the patient)
- Taking their SATS (saturation of oxygen levels)
- Secretion clearance (chest physio) // this will involve various ways of clearing the chest. ACBT, vibrations, shakes, percussions along their back, using things like a PEP device.
