The Duewag GT8 Pendel is a lengendary 70+ year old tram in Sofia Bulgaria, although these old Duewag trams are also in service in other cities in Eastern Europe and elsewhere. The GT8 Pendels are in operation on line 23 which is a short local tram line, connecting the newest part of the tram network in the Bulgarian capital. Ironically the oldest tram operates on the newest section. The line has a PVR of 2 and still uses these old machines since it is the only line in tram system in Sofia to use a switchover switch rather than a turning circle for one of the termini. The line was returning to the depot as it was the last 23 of the evening, which ends quite early, in Bulgaria some tram lines returning to the depot take passengers on board.
