Thanks for watching my how to install 240v hook up into a VW Transporter T5. Or any van for that matter.
I’ve tried to explain how you can run a hook up from a normal plug socket (using an adapter) and then also a normal hook up point you may find in a camping site.
I’ve broken it down from the hook up point which I’ve mounted into the engine bay next to the starter battery. I’ve fed the artic cable through a plate in the engine bay (which will need drilling) fed it through past the glove compartment and then past the passenger side chair and foot well area. Around the back of the front seats and then through the panelling and out to the back of the van where my consumer unit is. I’ve shown the earthing point and then how I’ve fed the cable from the consumer units back out to the sockets/switch panel. From the switch panel plug sockets, I have spurred another plug socket just below and on the inside of the units for my fridge. My fridge is a 240v plug type fridge and not the 12v. Which means I can only use the fridge when I hook up. This is the way I wanted it. Most people go for the 12v system. I have also run an extension lead through to the front of the van, fed from my inverter. The inverter is basically my 240 hook up when I am not hooked up to mains electricity.
