The UN Security Council has demanded Israel stop building settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory, after the United States refrained from vetoing the resolution. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the UN resolution, and slammed President Barack Obama for refusing to veto it. He said Israel will not abide by the resolution's terms. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon praised the move as a significant step towards realizing a two-state solution.
