On Sunday 13/3/2022 the flagship of the Royal Navy arrived in Scottish waters in preparation for a re-supply at Glen Mallon. The vessel temporarily anchored in the Firth of Clyde whilst preparing to enter Glen Mallon sometime on Monday 14th March.
HMS Queen Elizabeth is the lead ship of two vessels of the Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier built for the UK Royal Navy, the other vessel being HMS Prince of Wales.
The airwing wasn't present on this occasion but the ship will usually have a complement of F35B lightning strike/fighter aircraft, and supported by the Augusta Westland Merlin Helicopter.
The Queen Elizabeth is the largest and most powerful warship ever built for the Royal navy weighing in at 65,000 tonnes and has a range of around 10,000 miles at a speed of 25 - 32 knts.
The vessel is is expected to stay in Scotland while being re-supplied, thereafter rumour suggests she will visit Liverpool prior to any future planned deployment.
