FLIGHT #2/6 BELLANCA 4100 ORESHKOVO (UUFO) – OESHKOVO (UUFO), AUGUST 3, 2019
This video has been remastered and significantly improved in Sight & Sound and replaces the initial version, published in 2019.
After three years of abstinence, I needed badly another flight on the IL-14.
The only active IL-14 is now based at the Airfield Oreshkovo near Kaluga, some 180 kilometers Southwest of Moscow after being repositioned from its old home in Orlovka.
Being aware of the fact that Historic Aviation is barely tolerated in Russia, it is no secret that it is a matter of time until these jewels can no longer be operated for the public.
Seizing the last remaining opportunities was the “call of the day”. Arriving totally exhausted, I was welcomed by a typical “Russian surprise”, there will be no flight on IL-14 !
This was rather disappointing to those in our group who were hoping to experience their very first flight on this vintage oldtimer.
Off it was from Japan all the way to Moscow via Munich on the last day of July, 2019, a really long flight.
Nevertheless, the event put together by Lutz Schönfeld and Ivan Postnikov was nothing short of spectacular.
There were dozens of flights offered on the Czech Trainer L-29 and L-39 with and without acrobatic stunts for a reasonable fee.
In addition there were flights on Andrey Ivanov’s and Natalia Dmitrieva’s AN-2 RA-07853, Ivan’s non-registered 1958 year US-built Bellanca 14-19-2 Cruisemaster and the privately owned YAK-18TSS, RA-1732G.
Two days filled with kerosene were about to follow.
This video features the late afternoon 8 minute fun ride onboard Ivan’s pride, his 1958 vintage Bellanca on August 3, 2019.
This video is the uncut and original version.
