We’re at stage one of the lockdown roadmap, with children going back to school this week. Slowly, but surely, we are making our way out of this pandemic as vaccination rates continue to increase and Covid-19 cases continue to decrease.
While this is undoubtedly positive, people booking holidays for the summer may be jumping the gun as travel restrictions for international travel are still in place, preventing us from getting to the beach ASAP.
Currently, travelling abroad is banned until further notice without a reasonable excuse, but that will likely be lifted in May if cases stay low and vaccine uptake continues to rise.
But, holidays booked now may not go ahead if the lockdown exit doesn’t go according to plan, and we won’t find out until mid-April whether the roadmap has been successful in leaving Coronavirus behind so we can get some sun again.
There are also strict international travel restrictions in other countries, including people from some high-risk countries being banned from entering, as well as imposed hotel quarantines.
Tenerife is a part of Spain’s Canary Islands, which is currently safe to travel to according to Foreign Office travel advice.
The Foreign Office are advising against all but essential travel to Spain and the Balearic Islands, but due to the Covid-19 assessment in Tenerife, travel is not prohibited.
ll of Spain currently has travel restrictions on passengers travelling from the UK, unless you are a Spanish and Andorran national or legally resident in Spain or Andorra.
All passengers travelling from ‘at risk’ countries must provide a negative Covid-19 test result taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival.
When entering the country, you must fill out and sign an online Health Control Form at least two days prior to travelling, and must include your contact information, details of any known exposure to Covid-19 and confirmation that you will provide evidence of a Covid-19 test.
