OPPONENTS AND SUPPORTERS OF EMBATTLED NEW YORK CONGRESSMAN ANTHONY WEINER SHOWED UP AT HIS DISTRICT OFFICE SUNDAY TO PRESS THEIR VIEWS ON WHETHER HE SHOULD STAY OR GO.
"i'm here because I think weiner needs to step down...i feel he's worthy of no votes from our community."
"he has apologized....he has made a mistake...but he has not made a mistake in his capacity as a congressman."
WEINER IS UNDER FIRE FOR TEXTING LEWD PHOTOGRAPHS OF HIMSELF TO WOMEN OVER THE INTERNET -- AND THEN LYING ABOUT IT INITIALLY -- BEFORE REVERSING HIMSELF AND APOLOGIZING IN A PRESS CONFERENCE A WEEK AGO.
AND THE GOSSIP WEBSITE TMZ POSTED MORE SEXUALLY SUGGESTIVE PHOTOS OF WEINER ON A WEEKEND WHEN MORE DEMOCRATS ARE CALLING ON HIM TO STEP DOWN.
WEINER HAS SAID THAT RATHER THAN RESIGN -- HE HAS DECIDED TO SEEK PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT -- AND ASK FOR A LEAVE OF ABSENCE FROM CONGRESS.
