The Word of God for Everyone
Dear People of God,
In today's Gospel, God wants everyone to understand two laws: the first is the law of God, and the second is the human law.
In regard to God's laws, He has taught them since the beginning of time, and what He has taught cannot be added to or subtracted from. It must be done correctly. Those who do exactly what God commands will enjoy the glory of the Kingdom of Heaven in the future.
What is God's law? Those are the Ten Commandments summarized in two things: fear of God and love of our neighbor. God wants to sum it up in the word: 'love'. That is the law that God wants people to obey completely; as for human laws, there are many.
God is All-Powerful, Almighty, and Omnipotent over the entire universe. God created man, and He has power over man. He knows all that is good or bad for people. He is the One who gives the law. God always loves people and wants people to be happy with Him. Therefore, God wants His children to live according to the laws He has set forth, not to deviate from the path, and to absolutely obey His words.
And God's law is set forth very briefly. It is the word 'love' or, alternatively, 'charity'. Just by doing those two things, people will enjoy happiness with Him forever. Because in Heaven there is only charity, that is love. Love always exists forever, never lost. On this earth, no one loves and is close to humanity like God Himself.
What about human laws? In the Old Testament, people gave 613 laws. Those are the laws recorded in books. In addition, people have many more laws. People tie shackles to themselves and set up many laws for themselves. While humans are just sinners, and mortals before God. Humans are dull, not bright, not perfect like God, yet they dare to propose human laws and force them to be carried out because they say that when they do these things, they will enter the Kingdom of God. But God does not need laws proposed by humans. God only needs humans to live according to God's law, the law of 'love'.
In God's Word today, God wants to teach people to be humble before God. Because through the intimate meal between Jesus and the Pharisees and scribes, they were considered virtuous, highly educated, and knowledgeable people. But as for God, He understands their hearts: He knows how everyone lives. So, why did God condemn them? For before men, the scribes were good teachers of the faith, and all men must obey them.
But God clearly knew their hypocrisy, so He rebuked them: "This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me."
God wants everyone: to live humbly and do what God teaches, to face God face to face, and to practice God's law taught from the beginning of time. However, this law is always engraved in everyone's soul, never fading away. As for human laws, they will fade away; because it is not an eternal law to bring people to eternal life.
On the other hand, why did the scribes not tell Jesus' disciples to live in charity and love? Instead, they reprimanded the disciples for not washing their hands before eating. For humans, that is common sense; but for God's law, God requires charity and humility. Let the one who keeps the law be humble. Do not be arrogant or conceited in thinking that you are the one who keeps the law and lives to please God. God requires purity from the heart and soul, but He does not require the exterior; He wants kindness, not sacrifice.
Today, God wants to teach everyone to carry out God's law: love and charity above all things and fear God alone. When keeping God's law, be lowly and humble ourselves; Do not be arrogant or conceited like people living in today's world; As the bishops, priests, religious men, and women have said: we are keeping the law, practicing the law, which is: fasting, praying, and offering Mass every day. But let's ask: Have you treated the poor and others with charity? Have the bishops and priests treated those who live according to God's teachings in God the Father's House with charity?
Today's Gospel is also a warning to us all: to follow God's command, which is to live by the word 'love'. Do not show off, criticize, or condemn our brothers and sisters. Because only God is the One who judges, condemns, rewards and punishes. No one has the right to judge their brothers and sisters but God.
Thanks be to God. Amen
