Have you ever noticed a friend who always cancels plans last minute? It might be due to social anxiety disorder symptoms having kicked into their system, instead of rudeness.
Everyone experiences some level of social anxiousness at one time or another, but those with SAD experience an above-average to severe level of worry, fear, and panic in social situations. Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is defined as the “marked and persistent fear of one or more social or performance situations in which the person is exposed to unfamiliar people or possible scrutiny by others.”
