In the U.S. almost everyone has to drive, so high gas prices are eating into a lot of people’s budgets. In March 2021, a gallon of gas cost an average of $2.87. By March 2022, that had jumped to $4.23. But why? Is it just another consequence of the war in Ukraine, or is something else going on? We’re going to look at exactly why U.S. consumers are so vulnerable to price changes in ways drivers in many other countries are not.
