The U.S. Army is preparing to field its new Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), set to replace the aging ATACMS system. The PrSM has undergone successful test flights, including a recent "most stressful environment" test at White Sands Missile Range, where it demonstrated its accuracy and lethality. This new missile is designed to be launched from both the HIMARS and M270A2 MLRS platforms, capable of hitting targets over 500 km away【25†source】【26†source】【27†source】.
Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer, has already received several production contracts, and the Army aims to begin early operational capability by early 2024. Future increments of the PrSM are planned to include a multimode seeker for enhanced targeting and extended range capabilities beyond 1,000 km【26†source】【28†source】.
