Ableton has many gain dependent audio effects that can assist in bringing an element forward in a mix. Ableton overdrive is nice because you can increase the focus or emphasis on a certain frequency range without raising the overall volume of the track. Erosion is another great device to use because you can add some pleasing white noise to a signal and give it more brightness without adding too much harshness.
