Hunting tutorial from the Warrior Cats: Ultimate Edition Developers:
There are 2 ways to hunt prey in Warrior Cats: Ultimate Edition.
If you are struggling to find out how to hunt, or hunt successfully, here you go!
Mouse/Bird/Rabbit Hunting
To first enter the hunting prompt, you must go into the crouch position. If you are on mobile, you click your movement speed button.
On PC, you click Q to lower your walkspeed to the crouch
Entering the crouch will open a menu on the left of your screen, to which you press "Hunt"
To find prey, you must journey around the Clan territories.
You must be in Hunt mode while doing so.
Scent markers appear, either highlighted blue for birds, yellow for mice, and green for rabbits.
You can track scent markings which will show paths where prey have traversed via an interactable prompt.
You must be in hunt mode to catch prey. If you approach prey not in hunt mode, you will startle them away, temporarily making them unhuntable.
If you see prey or a scent marker appears, you must make a distance from yourself away from the prey, this will enable the hunting prompt, to which you click the key on your keyboard corresponding, or the button on your tablet corresponding. You will then have to slowly creep up to the prey in a given time. Moving further away from prey while hunting will make the prey flee back to its home! Then you proceed to click "Lunge," after you press lunge, you have successfully caught the prey. Good job!
Fish Hunting:
All Clans have areas designated for fishing, RiverClan has the most.
Enter Hunt mode to view the blue beams near riverbanks, and you will enter a short minigame. Make sure to press the "Grab Fish" button on the bottom right of your screen when a yellow fish on the top bar aligns with the green bar moving side to side.
Your Scent Bar and You:
When in Hunt mode, you have a visible scent bar on the top.
This bar depletes if you run, but can be replenished swiftly by standing still in Hunt mode.
Walk and Trot will not deplete the bar, but Canter will!
Natural Behaviors and Generation:
Mice and Rabbits occasionally rest in their warrens or mouse holes, making them unhuntable.
Fish and birds do not.
Mice, Rabbit, and Bird generation is random. No one server will have the same prey locations!
