You know that it needs to be done but do you realize how little material is to be applied? A single 5 mm strip of Staburags NBU 30 PTM will cover the splined portion of the input shaft, clutch hub, both transmission mounting dowel pins and four Para-Lever pivot pins.
NOTE: If you are not removing the clutch friction disc do not apply paste to these splines. Apply paste on the clutch disc splines only with the clutch disc removed allowing excess paste to be removed from the ends of the splined center. If the clutch is installed and you apply paste onto the splines there will be excess paste forced onto the unseen face of the splined hub between the clutch and the 'flywheel'. When the transmission is installed further paste will be forced out onto the unseen portion of the clutch center hub. This excess paste will be flung by centrifugal force outwards when the engine is running. This paste will migrate onto the friction material and cause the clutch to slip, a problem I find often caused by excessive application of moly based lube (black / dark grey). Castrol Optimoly is white and I do not recommend its use on clutch splines. I use Staburags NBU 30 PTM just as the factory did when these machines were first assembled. Thank you.
