With no internal combustion engine under the bonnet, the Polestar 2 glides across roads, almost silently. This is great but it also poses a potential problem. How can pedestrians and cyclists stay safe around the Polestar 2? How can they know when one is around if it’s so quiet? And can they be alerted in an unobtrusive way?
The sound designers set to work on a unique sonic signature and came up with the Acoustic Vehicle Alert System, or AVAS. This system generates subtle and recognizable sounds, helping the Polestar 2 be heard with just enough recognition to help everyone stay safe.
The futuristic Acoustic Vehicle Alert System ensures smooth, super-safe driving around cities and towns, letting people know it’s there without the need for engine roar.
