The Emperor is a total chump. Yes, you can kill him in 2 attacks with the Blood Sword. In this version, you can sleep lock him forever with the Sleep Sword. You can also severely cut down his stats with each hit of the Ancient Sword.
This is how I think the fight should've went, if things worked the way the devs intended and the whole game wasn't kind of a mess to begin with. I didn't purposefully grind most of my stats aside from Evasion to level 4 to make the midgame less annoying; most of it was natural progression fighting the majority of the random battles in the game - which there is A LOT due to the high encounter rate.
This fight is actually made easier if you don't go out of your way to grind, specially your HP. You see, the most dangerous thing the Emperor can do is his physical attacks; they have the absorb HP property, which means that, if you don't level up your Evasion (either personal stat or casting high level Blink), he could potentially be healing himself to full HP every time he attacks, which would be pretty annoying to deal with.
He can also cast magic, but it's nearly not as threatening. His Slow XVI spell is crappy for physical attackers, and without a Haste XVI spell of your own, you can't dispel it (thought I could get by with the Masamune, but it's too low level). Damaging the Emperor with weapons can be hard without Berserk and Haste casts and anything other than the Masamune (or the Blood Sword). Only magic that works is Non-Elemental, he can absorb ALL types of spells like the Soul type enemies; so, have your mages with high level Flare, Holy, or even Ultima.
Yeah, the sneaky idiot can get an Ambush. This game is so weird!
