The Seiko Alpinist has long been a cult favorite in the watch community, especially the green dial SARB017. It was then discontinued to make way for a Prospex version and a brand new 1959 Alpinist Recreation collection which was quite the package. It offered a modern take on the original Laurel Alpinist and the execution of the dial and entire watch was elevated. And too make things even better the price was $750.
Then in late 2021, Seiko released the 140th Anniversary Ginza Limited Edition, which despite the high number of 3,500 watches, quickly sold out. And for good reason because it was and still is one of the best looking dials ever created by Seiko and the price remained at $750.
So in this video, I’m going to get into why I think this Ginza edition Alpinist is the best looking watch Seiko has made by getting in to the details of the gorgeous dial and the rest of the watch as well. Additionally I will also get into why i think that this is a return to the good old days of Seiko value, something that Seiko has been straying from over the past few years.
