Torghatten is a famous mountain located in Brønnøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is renowned for its distinctive hole that goes all the way through the mountain, a feature that makes it a remarkable natural landmark. The mountain stands at 258 meters high, and the hole is about 160 meters long, 35 meters high, and 20 meters wide, formed during the ice age as ice and water wore away the mountain's softer rocks.

According to local legend, the hole in Torghatten was created by the troll Hestmannen. As the legend goes, Hestmannen fell in love with a beautiful girl named Lekamøya. When she fled from him, he shot an arrow to kill her in a fit of jealousy. The troll king, Sømna, saw this and threw his hat in the arrow's path to save her. The hat turned into the mountain with the hole in the middle when the first rays of sunlight touched it, as all trolls turn to stone in daylight.

Torghatten is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from around the world who are drawn by its unique geological feature and the scenic hiking opportunities it offers. The recent completion of an improved trail, including Sherpa steps, has made the hike more accessible and safer for tourists.
