Everyone seemed to enjoy the Yamaha 6 string laminate vs. solid wood episode a couple weeks back, so Lucas thought he'd take a stab at a 12 string addition. Today we have 2 guitars that are only truly similar in the fact that both are 12 string acoustics, but as always it's all about tone and listening. Perhaps on today's show the lines between the superiority of solid wood, and laminate being less desirable are blurred a little with these 2 guitars? That's for you to decide.
Guitars featured:
Guitar #1 is A Japanese made fully laminated Yamaki Custom dreadnaught from the 1970s' that Lucas picked up used for $60, about 9 years ago, with a laminate spruce or cedar mystery top, and laminate rosewood back and sides.
Guitar #2 is a Chinese made Guild F212 from 2007/2009. It has a solid Sitka Spruce Top with Scalloped Sitka spruce Bracing and Solid mahogany Back & Sides with Dark Mahogany Binding, finished in High Gloss Polyurethane. This guitar sells used for $700/$800.

With these being 12 strings did you prefer the less over-tone rich Yamaki, or did you still prefer the all solid Guild with its rich and warm voice? Let your voice be heard in the comment section below:
