This is a fine contemporary example of a swing clock which was first manufactured by the Ansonia Clock Company in America in the 1980s.
This piece dates from from the last quarter of the 20th century and measures approximately 24 inches tall, overall.
The eight day mechanism and the swing is supported by the figures raised right arm. The upper ball features a dial that has raised Roman numerals and the movement is encased in this top section. Below this upper ball is the pivot point for the swing , a delicate suspension springs provides the breakpoint. Below this are three rods and then a smaller ball.
When the clock is running, this entire unit moves or swings like the motion of a pendulum and it is very attractive.
Everything is complete, correct, and ready to enjoy and the movement is running fine.
This high quality bronze is made from the lost wax process and is a recast of an original by E.Plat and bears the associated signature.
The attention to detail throughout the piece is second to none and the figure stands upon an attractive marble base.
