A contraction feels like a really, really intense cramp. So if you think about when you get menstrual cramps, this low intense feeling - that’s what a contraction feels like. Sometimes it starts in your back and radiates around towards your front. It involves your whole belly, because your uterus uses up your whole belly now, instead of just down low like when you aren’t pregnant. But it comes on gradually, it gets really intense like a big, strong tightening and cramp, and then it slowly goes away. I think that’s the easiest way to describe what a contraction feels like.
