I recently shared a post about lazy loading in a React Native in a Facebook group and someone asked what the major benefit was. My answer to them was purely one revolving around user experience.
So, I put together a video showing the difference when using lazy loading and when not using lazy loading. It's evident that when using lazy loading, we are able to present some sort of visual to the user that there is an image that will be in the container.
The example on the left is on an extremely fast connection.
The example in the middle is on a 3G connection downloading a medium-large sized image.
The example on the right is what happens when just making use of the basic Image component on a 3G connection.

Or you can read about it on my website where I've detailed the use case, why you should be lazy loading, and gave an example on where I am using it in my apps.
