Can you turn an ordinary relay in to an oscilloscope probe tool for automotive diagnostics? We strip the relay down, connect it up to the PicoScope and see what we can pick on on the ignition coils. This turns out to be a great tool for ignition coil diagnosis and to help diagnose misfires; and this one was free!!
P.S: I meant resistor, not capacitor. Some relays have a diode instead to do a similar job of ‘soaking up’ the spike
