The Danube's Boilers mean the area of the gorge between the mouth of the rivers Plavisevita and Ogradena, being made of 2 distinct parts: Big Boilers and Small Boilers, separated by a semicircular golf, the Dubova basin. They have a total length of 9 kilometers and in some places the Danube reaches to a width of 230 meters an aspect which makes sailing quite a difficult task to fulfill. The maximum depth is 75 meters and the river is surrounded on both sides by vertical hard rock walls. It is an extremely picturesque area which offers spectacular landscape for tourists. Those who love the nature really need to see this place, its vegetation and the rare species that live here. The sights of the area are The Face of Decebal, Monastery Mraconia, Ponicova Cave, Tabula Traiana and Veterani Cave.
The music is a romanian waltz composed by Iosif Ivanovici ( Waves of the Danube ) and is one of the most famous Romanian tunes in the world. In the United States, it is frequently referred to as "The Anniversary Song", a title given by Al Jolson.
