I vividly remember our car breaking down time and again at this gas station, having to crawl under it to try to fix it as fast as possible so my friends wouldn't see me.

So much of my childhood happened in and around this tiny little shop, I remember going in there with my monthly allowance of one food stamp and buying a bag of Sour Cream and Onion potato chips since they were $.99 and they didn't charge tax on food stamps.

The memories come flooding back when I visit this store, both the good memories and the painful ones. I'll always be thankful though for the kind people and the hard times, because both I take with me as I look to the future with eyes wide and a hopeful heart.
