Ukrainian servicemen fired U.S. M-777 howitzers along the frontline in eastern Donetsk region on June 6, 2022.
The M-777 howitzer consignment from the United States is part of a huge outlay of weapons from Washington to help Ukraine fend off Russia's invasion, which began on Feb. 24.
The United States and other countries have provided Ukraine with heavy weapons. Ukraine said howitzers and other weapon systems are needed to fight back against Russian artillery.
Moscow said Monday that Western deliveries of longer-range arms to Kyiv would make Russia push Ukrainian forces further back from its borders, essentially increasing the potential territorial losses for Ukraine in the invasion.
