We talk about what an Iranian Revolutionary Guards official revealed about an American condition related to easing sanctions, the American response in this regard, and what demands Washington could agree to with regard to the Revolutionary Guards.
The commander of the navy of the Revolutionary Guards said that Washington offered Tehran the idea of abandoning revenge for Soleimani in exchange for some concessions or the lifting of sanctions.
The Iranian official rejected the American offer, and said that his country would not abandon its plans to avenge Soleimani, at the time and place chosen by Iran, he said.
The Negotiation style is unorthodox if this was the starting statement from the Biden Admin “Roosevelt”Washington would need to present an aggressive concession package if its to get the energy deal and serve the U.S. National Security interest long-term.
The Devil’s Advocate: If I were to advise Iran here’s the list of request:
1. Release transaction restrictions on the Banking and Insurance industry that Targeted the Central Bank of Iran and allow Iran to rejoin SWIFT system
2. Release of Iran’s frozen funds abroad totaling 29 billion+ dollars
3. Request U.S. to Commit to long term Investments and trade deals for key commodities
4. Authorizing Commercial Shipping Routes to be protected from groups that might target Iran
5. Release Missile & Arms Industry Sanctions “Defense Industrial Base”
6. Remove sanctions on Energy Exports
7. Open Business Dealings with Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp
The U.S. will need to keep major provisions in the JCPOA agreement. Regardless there will be two sides demanding their desires. Biden will have to be strategic and appease the middle east partners. Anymore wrong steps would further weaken the U.S. – GCC Alliance.
