It might be easy to think that buying expensive D&D terrain and miniatures will make your Dungeons & Dragons game better. After all, we see famous dungeon masters on D&D shows using fancy Dwarven Forge terrain and cool minis, right? So shouldn't sinking hundreds of dollars into terrain and minis for our RPG and D&D games make a dungeon master's game as amazing as those shows? Not necessarily. A game with fancy terrain and minis can suck just as much as a game without them. Don't get me wrong. As a DM, I love terrain and I have a massive collection of miniatures that I use in my games. However, an overreliance on terrain and minis can cause game masters to neglect other important areas of the game.
