Religion in the context of diversity has been neglected by many scholars in terms of theoretical and empirical studies. However, some scholars have considered the contribution of religion, together with the concept of spirituality, towards the global identity construction of diverse individuals. In order to understand religious diversity and discrimination against religious beliefs, Turkey and the UK have been used to examine religion, religious diversity and overcoming discrimination in legislative-based approaches.
The value of making such a comparison between these countries is due to the differences between the state and legislative structures of the countries. While comparing Turkey and the UK in terms of religious diversity, the main difference appears to be the type of workplaces where discrimination occurs. In Turkey, religious discrimination is mostly observed in the public sector. In the UK, it is noticed more in the private sector.
