As of February 2023, only 3 states and Washington, D.C., include the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in school vaccine requirements. However, this does not mean that the HPV vaccine series is any less valuable than other childhood vaccines. Whether or not local schools require the HPV vaccine does not influence the primary benefit of getting vaccinated for HPV: cancer prevention.
The Society for Women’s Health Research #SWHRtalksHPV Video Series was created to help parents and guardians learn about the HPV vaccine and cancer prevention by sharing facts and insights from immunization experts.
In this video, experts discuss school vaccine mandates and the value of the HPV vaccine regardless of school requirements.
