A 100% honest review of midi guitar systems with divided pickup, by a long-time user. I know that the video is a bit too long, but it's hard to cover everything in a shorter time frame.
We go through the strong points, such as flexibility in sound creation, expression and sustain pedal functionality, synth/flute/ string sounds, MIDI out.
We go through the pitfalls you may forgotten about, like divided pickup mounting problems in some guitars.
And through the drawbacks, like painful editing (unless PC software is used), tracking errors in live use.
We cover tracking accuracy in various situations (solo, fingerstyle tracking), its speed and latency.
The strong points are studio use, MIDI recording and looping/ ambient music, but using it live is problematic.
Bottom line: if still don't have a decent amp, guitar or even a multieffects pedal, it's better to first get those first. If you have all of the above and are looking for something new and fun - go ahead.
