Xinjiang Dabashancheng Wind Power Plant is the largest wind energy base in China. Today we will drive and explore this vast wilderness, where hundreds of wind turbines stand. They rotate slowly in the wind, forming a spectacular world of windmills.
In 1985, Xinjiang began to research, test and promote wind power generation. In 1986, the first wind turbine introduced from Denmark was erected high beside Chaiwopu Lake and successfully tested, laying the foundation for the development and utilization of wind energy resources in Xinjiang. In 1988, with the grant from the Danish government, Xinjiang completed the first phase of the Dabancheng Wind Base. This is the earliest wind power plant in the autonomous region and also the earliest experimental site for large-scale development of wind energy in China. In October 1989, the power plant was incorporated into the Urumqi power grid for power generation. At that time, both the single-unit capacity and the total installed capacity ranked first in the country. Since then, the power plant has continued to expand and ranks first in China.
Now follow me as we drive into this magnificent landscape and witness the achievements of Xinjiang's modernization construction.
