[ Ссылка ] Recently, War Zone reported on the possibility of the Royal Navy going back to catapults for launch and cables for recovery on their carriers. While on paper this sounds like a great idea you also need to remember it is Royal Navy we are talking about. They retired Harriers years before any F-35B were ready for service. They are not planning on buying any more F-35 jets than the 30 they have in the short term due to a lack of funds. Remember, each HMS Queen Elizabeth can carry 36 jets and they have two carriers in service. They rely on the US Marine Corp to provide additional aviation to maintain a minimum of 24 jets on the carriers.
My take, they might use the short take off and landing General Atomics Mojave or MQ 9 variants, but a full-fledged refit is not happening in the ship’s lifetimes.
